Beginning Fluidics

A Waving Rib Compression
"Fluidics" is an approach to doing bodywork that seeks to bring all of the body's systems into flowing balance. By assessing and supporting free-flowing movement in the breathing, skeleton, musculature, fascia, circulation, digestion, lymph, craniosacral, meridian, energetic, and mental/emotional systems, our intention is to support fuller awareness, release, and healing.
In this Beginning Fluidics class, you'll learn how to assess and treat musculoskeletal holding patterns. We'll play with a variety of Trager®, Myofascial, Massage, Deep Tissue, and Craniosacral skills, and learn to apply them throughout the body, beginning on land (a bonus for anyone who does or hopes to do terrestrial bodywork!). Then you'll learn how to adapt the techniques for water, and apply them in five familiar Watsu positions: first, freefloat, head cradle, seaweed, and figure 4 -- which you can then blend into whatever aquatic modality you're practicing. We'll do theory, principles, techniques, moves, and mini-sequence. You'll also learn lots of tricks for practitioner self-care (because we all want longer, healthier careers!), glean invaluable insight and advice from my 16 years of dedicated practice, move a lot, receive good bodywork, possibly awaken some things in yourself, and have a lot of fun.
Fluidics is a 50-hour, WABA-approved elective.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of any 50-hour water class; comfort and skill in supporting and moving the body in water; willingness to receive both in water and on land; sincere motivation to participate and learn.

Your class has changed my life as an aquatic bodyworker and as a Watsu instructor... and more importantly, as ME." -Kat Stenvers "I thought the mix of land/water would be boring and repetitive; but it was ALL really useful." -Grace Jull "After this course, my body feels better than it has in years!" -Marla McConnell |
